15 Dec NCSR Presents an Award for Martabe Gold Mine 2015 Sustainable Report

Jakarta, 15 December 2016 – Martabe Gold Mine’s Sustainability Report 2015 was awarded the “Commendation for First Year Report” from the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR), an independent institution that promotes and develops a sustainability report system in Indonesia.
The award was presented by Sarwono Kusumaatmadja, the Chief of the Panel of Juries Judges of the Sustainability Reporting Award (SRA) 2016 to Tim Duffy, the President Director of PT Agincourt Resources. The award ceremony was held by NCSR at Fairmont Hotel, Senayan, Jakarta, and was attended by many companies across several industries on December 14, 2016.
Sarwono congratulated the companies that won the awards. “There is improvement in sustainability reports submitted for evaluation this year, not only in numbers, but also in quality of reports which are getting more comprehensive. We expect that the writing and publication of the sustainability reports can be developed as a positive culture encouraged by awareness of every company to make the best sustainability report every year.”
Tim Duffy said “At PT Agincourt Resources, one of our core values is Transparency. This award proves we are a transparent organisation and reinforces our commitment to Sustainability. In preparing the Sustainability Report we have followed the reporting standards issued by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). In this report, we present openly to the public about how our company has performed in 3 key integrated areas of Environment, Stakeholder Engagement, and Community Relations and Development that enhance the community welfare in both social and economic sectors. We expect that in the future we can maintain and improve our Sustainability performance to benefit the community in the vicinity of Martabe Gold Mine and the government of RI.”
Since entering commercial operation in year 2013, Martabe Gold Mine has issued two independent Sustainability Reports, in year 2014 and 2015. The Sustainability Reports present several achievements of Martabe Gold Mine management in various sectors during the year. Martabe Gold Mine participated in the award for the first time this year in the newcomer category held by NCSR. Martabe Gold Mine Overview

 

Martabe Gold Mine is located to the west side of Sumatra Island, in Batang Toru Sub-district, North Sumatra Province, with an area of 1,639 km2, under the sixth generation of Contract of Work (“CoW”) which was signed in April 1997. PT Agincourt Resources manages Martabe Gold Mine that has a resource of 7.4 million ounces of gold and 69 million ounces of silver and began its full production in early 2013, with an annual capacity of 250,000 ounces of gold and 2-3 million ounces of silver.

 

More than two thousand people are currently working at Martabe Gold Mine, 70% of them are recruited from fifteen villages around the mine and other nearby areas.
