13 Oct Promotion of 58 Local Employees to Level 1 Operators, Martabe Gold Mine is Consistent Improving Human Resource Capacity
Batangtoru, 13 October 2016 – The management of Martabe Gold Mine handed over certificates to 58 local employees who work at the Mine’s Processing Plant. The 58 employees from South Tapanuli joined Martabe Gold Mine in year 2012 and held the status of trainees in various Processing Plant covered subjects.
On April 2016, the 58 local employees were promoted to level 1 operators. Then in the first quarter of 2017, assessment on competence will be made to check for the ongoing comprehension of knowledge, and application of skill according to work sector.
The promoted employees work at Crushing & Reclaim, Grinding & Classification, Carbon in Leach, Desorption & Regeneration, Water Polishing Plant, Day Crew, and Gold Room. They come from 15 villages /kelurahan within the Martabe Gold Mine area, including Kelurahan Aek Pining, the Village of Napa, the Village of Wek II, the Village of Wek IV, the Village of Telo, the Village of Sumuran, Kelurahan Wek I, the Village of Hapesong Baru, the Village of Bandar Hapinis, the Village of Muara Hutaraja, the Village of Wek III, the Village of Batuhula, Kelurahan Perkebunan PTPN III, Kelurahan Hutaraja.
Tim Duffy, the President Director of Martabe Gold Mine said, “This promotion is a real proof that Martabe Gold Mine is committed to training and developing local employees. The Company and the employees will continue to develop their skills and later, they can develop their careers according to their competence.”
This continuous work training covers all activities to gain, improve, and develop work competence, productivity, discipline, attitude, and work ethos at specific skill and expertise according to the work or position level and qualification.

Until the end of September 2016, there were 1,640 local people who worked at the mine which represent more than 71.84% of total workers at Martabe Gold Mine.

Martabe Gold Mine Overview
Martabe Gold Mine is located to the west side of Sumatra Island, in Batang Toru Sub-district, North Sumatra Province, with an area of 1,639 km2, under the sixth generation of Contract of Work (“CoW”) which was signed in April 1997. PT Agincourt Resources manages Martabe Gold Mine that has a resource of 7.4 million ounces of gold and 69 million ounces of silver and began its full production in early 2013, with an annual capacity of 250,000 ounces of gold and 2-3 million ounces of silver.
More than two thousand people are currently working at Martabe Gold Mine, 70% of them are recruited from fifteen villages around the mine and other nearby areas.
